Welcome to ‘Occupy Your Conscience’, a platform for story writing that I hope you will enjoy. As a continuous work in progress, my aim is to develop this blog by adding stories that will hopefully interest, stimulate, and entertain you.
‘War is a Letter from Poutia’ is the first of my short stories to be presented here; it is in the form of a letter written by a soldier to himself. The soldier – Sgt. A Thomas (“Thommo”) – is trapped amid the mindless mayhem of all the endless wars he has been caught up in and he is struggling to keep it together. The letter is his attempt at reaching out to his previous self, before he loses his identity and sanity altogether, as it might just be his last chance. In light of recent military events and the skepticism felt by many, Thommo’s anguished story seems an apt one. [Please click the 'Show Menu' tab (top right), hit 'Short Stories' and then click on the the title to expand.]
In the very near future I intend to bring to this site a series of very short compositions called ‘PoutianWorks101′ – a collection of ‘stories’ reflecting an eclectic mix of ideas, observations, and interests – “slices of life” in just 101 words.
I thank you for your interest and the time you have given to this blog. If you have enjoyed the reading experience please recommend it to family, friends, and colleagues. I hope to build ‘Occupy Your Conscience’ platform into a regular reading and writing event that we can all share and continue to get pleasure from.
